With all our Fall lesson activities and recital preparations, I've been busy! It's been nice to have a couple of days off for Veterans Day to catch up cleaning the studio, organizing games, and writing the blog.
Here is an activity that my older students enjoyed playing a few weeks ago:
Candy Corn Scales
I found another use for the candy corn erasers I bought (it's amazing the fun you can have with a bag full of inexpensive erasers)! I wrote the numbers 1-5 on them and we spelled scales. It was great practice for remembering which finger numbers to use.
We spelled major scales and pentascales. B major was an especially good one for my students who sometimes get a little confused with the slightly different fingering. It was a great visual!
We even spelled arpeggios.
This idea has been done before by other teachers so I can't claim the credit, but I hope you enjoyed seeing my studio's take on it. I am very thankful for all the teachers out there who share their awesome ideas.
