About the Teacher

Lisa Barwell, Flute and Piano Teacher in Jacksonville, FL

Lisa Barwell began playing piano at the age of 8 and flute at the age of 11. She loved participating in the school band in middle school and high school as well as various city-wide honor bands. During her university years, she was thrilled to march with Vanderbilt University's Spirit of Gold Marching Band. She has participated in competitions and festivals, including Solo and Ensemble Festival in flute and the Florida Federation of Music Clubs Festival in piano.

Miss Barwell studied flute with Pegge Ealum, Betty Polk, and Melissa Voshell and piano with Sheree Crook, Mary Elizabeth Land, Beth Martelli, and DeLise Hall, all of whom were inspirational to her current teaching. She desires to give her students as many opportunities to love music as her teachers did for her!

She graduated in 2001 from Providence School and in 2005 from Trevecca Nazarene University (Nashville, TN) with a Bachelor of Science in Music. She has been teaching since 2004.

She is a member of the
National Federation of Music Clubs and Music Teachers National Association which enables her students to participate in festivals and competitions throughout the year.

Miss Barwell is an active teacher with the MusicLink Foundation. She has received a background check and makes the safety of her students a top priority. For more information about MusicLink, click here
